Henry Boney was a pioneer in the retail grocery store industry. He began selling produce in the San Diego area in the 1940’s when he and his wife began a fruit-stand. That first effort grew into many stores all over the nation operating under the names Boney’s, Henry’s, Sprouts, Windmill farms, etc. It is out of this history that our Oceanside Store began in 1997.

Most of the Henry’s and Sprouts stores are now large corporate stores but Boney’s Earthgrown Market in Oceanside, California is still a locally owned and family operated Store. We are owned and operated by a collection of former Boney’s Marketplace managers and their families.

We believe in the same ideals that made those original family stores so popular, customer service, product selection, product quality, and value for our customers. It was these principles that helped those original Boney’s stores to become an important part of the retail history in our area; it is what still guides us today.

So at Earthgrown Market we are focused on providing the same quality, value, selection, and service that people have loved for years. We also are growing with customers whose taste’s have changed over the years and are asking for new items such as gluten-free, natural groceries, and organics.
